a short walk
Just a few pictures from a walk up the driveway to get the mail. I’m feeling pretty lucky to be in such a beautiful place in the country.
Pizza Farm!
Ask me where I went last night.
On a journey with friends. It was a small pilgrimage, and probably the closest I’ll come to Awesome for awhile … or at least until I go again.
Yes, Pizza Farm. I went!
Yup, I drove 2 hours, waited an hour and a half and paid 25 bones for a pizza. And I loved it. Probably the best, freshest pie I’ll ever get, and the adventure with friends will be unforgettable.
Tuesdays only, middle of nowhere western Wisconsin. Bring plates, forks, a picnic blanket and wine. Side-dishes optional.

I bought this melon from a farmer on the roadside. I cut it up outside so I could hang with Leo. He’s an outdoor cat.
As I was enjoying it, guess who decided he wanted some too …

moving {pt.1}
I am beginning to prepare for my farmland adventure.
Somewhere in the not-too-distant future, I imagine myself gardening, picking apples off of trees and relaxing with my family on the grass. Then, a small bug flies near my eyes, obscuring these lovely visions. I bat it out of the way, but it will not go. It tells me I have to pack all of my things, bit by bit, and drive them to the farm.
And so, since I can’t make the moving bug go away, I will do what it says. Piece by piece, trip by trip.
Yesterday I journeyed out to the land with a couple of friends. We burned sage to invite fresh, positive energy to the sturdy old house, then proceeded to bring a small batch of my things inside.
The adventure {always} begins {with an ending}.

Yes, I’m moving.
To a farm.
A farm with a lake and swallows in the barn, a cat and lots of plants breathing.
This is a very special farm. My great grandparents built it. My father was raised there. He’s an old man now. Too old to live alone, so I’m going to live with him.
In some ways I’ve willed such an opportunity (read “On Jobs and Delusions,” a piece I wrote for Thought Catalog). I do think having a close connection with your food source is radical and necessary in this society. This will be an adventure. I’ll float in the water and surround myself with plant-breath. Dad and I will garden, read and hopefully work up to keeping bees and chickens! Wish us luck.
